By accessing or using ExpatFolio ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

ExpatFolio is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that provides financial dashboard and portfolio tracking capabilities specifically designed for US expatriates living in Europe. Our service includes:

• Multi-currency portfolio tracking
• Investment and cash account monitoring
• Real estate and property management
• Tax compliance tracking (FBAR, FATCA, PFIC)
• Household financial management
• Data visualization and reporting

4. User Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your account credentials
• Ensuring accuracy of all financial data you input
• Promptly updating account information when it changes
• Monitoring your account for unauthorized access
• Complying with all applicable laws and regulations
• Using the Service only for lawful purposes

You may not share your account with others or use the Service on behalf of third parties without proper authorization.

5. Subscription and Billing

Billing is processed through Stripe, our payment processor. By subscribing, you agree to:

• Pay all applicable subscription fees
• Provide accurate billing information
• Authorize automatic recurring charges
• Update payment methods as needed

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time through your account settings. Refunds are provided according to our refund policy available in your account dashboard.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of all data entered into the Service, including:

• Account balances and transaction data
• Investment holdings and valuations
• Property values and mortgage information
• Tax-related information and compliance data

While we strive to provide accurate calculations and reporting features, we make no warranties about the accuracy of any calculations, tax compliance assessments, or financial projections. You should verify all information independently.

7. Service Availability

We aim to provide reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues. We will provide reasonable notice for planned maintenance when possible.

8. Intellectual Property

ExpatFolio and its technology are protected by intellectual property rights. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive license to use the Service for your personal financial management. You may not:

• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
• Redistribute or resell the Service
• Create derivative works based on the Service
• Use automated tools to extract data at scale

You may delete your account at any time through the account settings. Upon deletion:

• All account data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
• Active subscriptions will be cancelled
• You will lose access to all Service features
• Data export options are available before deletion

We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms or applicable laws.

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection, use, and protection of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you also agree to our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration in California, except for claims that may be brought in small claims court.

13. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email and through the Service at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
